How to Fill the India e-Arrival Card: Step-by-Step Guide

To fill the India e-Arrival Card, open the online form within 72 hours before arrival. Enter your passport information, arrival date, recent travel, Indian accommodation address and contact details. Check your answers, complete the declaration and submit your information.

This guide explains the information to enter and the checks to make before submission.

1. Check when you can submit

Government submission is available within 72 hours before your scheduled arrival in India.

Calculate the window using your arrival time in India. For example, a Sunday arrival at 8 am Indian Standard Time has a window beginning on Thursday at 8 am Indian Standard Time.

Have your current passport, travel itinerary and Indian accommodation details nearby. Use records for this trip so that information from an earlier visit is not copied accidentally.

2. Complete your passport and nationality details

Use the passport you will travel on. Enter your name as it appears in that document and compare the passport number character by character.

Check that your browser has not inserted an old passport number or another family member’s name. After a passport renewal, a saved travel profile may still contain the previous number.

Select the nationality matching your travel passport. Your country of residence may be different.

OCI holders should use their foreign passport number in the passport field. An OCI card number is a different identifier. See our OCI holders guide for more information.

3. Choose your purpose of visit and arrival date

Select the purpose that accurately describes your journey. Check that it is consistent with your travel plans and the permission you hold to enter India.

Use the date you arrive in India. An overnight flight or connection can mean you arrive on a different day from departure.

For example, if you leave home on 5 November and reach India on 6 November 2026, your Indian arrival date is 6 November.

4. Answer the recent-travel question

Review your itinerary for the countries visited during the last six days. Answer for the individual traveller whose form you are completing; relatives travelling together may have different recent travel histories.

Follow any instructions shown for this question. If an option is unclear for your itinerary, seek clarification rather than choosing it simply to move past the field.

5. Enter your accommodation address in India

Use the address where you will stay in India.

For a hotel, check the booking confirmation or the hotel’s own website. If you are staying with friends or relatives, ask your host to confirm the address.

Select the Indian state and district matching the accommodation. A city name and district name are not always identical, so check the location instead of assuming they match.

Keep the address consistent across the street, town or city, state, district and postcode information supplied. Our requirements checklist explains what to prepare.

6. Check your contact information

Use an email address you can access before and during your trip. Check it carefully for missing letters, extra spaces or an incorrect ending.

Enter your telephone number in the format requested, including the appropriate international country code. If the country code has its own field, avoid entering it twice.

Have an emergency contact’s details available if requested. For a child using our assistance service, a parent or guardian can provide their contact email.

7. Include family members correctly

Follow the instructions displayed when including additional travellers and check each person’s identity information separately.

Our service takes one traveller per application and payment. If you completing for several people, return to the application form for the next traveller after completing each order.

Read our children and families guide for help preparing several applications.

8. Review and submit

Before completing the declaration and submitting, check:

  • The name and passport number belong to the correct traveller.
  • The arrival date matches the Indian arrival shown in the itinerary.
  • The accommodation address, state and district agree.
  • The recent-travel answer reflects that traveller’s itinerary.
  • The email address and telephone number are correct.

Questions about completing the form

What if the form does not accept my arrival date?

First check the Indian arrival date and whether submission is within the permitted window. Do not enter a different date simply to make the form accept it. If the correct date still cannot be entered, consult the portal’s help information and contact your airline if travel is imminent.

What if I notice a mistake after submitting?

If you used this service, email [email protected] promptly with your name, arrival date and order reference if available. We will check the processing stage and advise on the next steps.

Does this complete all my travel paperwork?

Your passport and any required visa or OCI documentation remain separate. Current UK travel advice for India also lists a separate Air Suvidha health declaration within 24 hours before arrival. Check the official requirements applying to your journey and your airline’s instructions.
