Step-by-step India e-Arrival Card guide

Which documents should I keep nearby?

Keep your passport and travel booking nearby while completing the form. Your accommodation booking or host’s address can help you enter your stay details accurately.

Check information against those records instead of relying on memory or an old application.

The e-Arrival Card records arrival information. Your passport, visa or OCI travel requirements remain separate.

Check your passport details carefully

Enter the details of the passport you will use for this journey.

Before submitting:

  • Compare the passport number character by character.

  • Check similar-looking letters and numbers, such as “O” and “0”.

  • Match your name to your passport.

  • If you renewed your passport, check that you have entered the current number.

OCI cardholders should enter their travel passport number in the passport field. Read our India e-Arrival Card for OCI Holders guide for more information.

Use your arrival date in India

Check your itinerary for the date you land in India. Overnight flights and connecting journeys can mean this differs from your departure date.

Read the date format shown on the form carefully. DD/MM/YYYY means day, month, year: for example, 05/12/2026 means 5 December 2026.

Complete the government submission within 72 hours before your scheduled arrival in India. You can provide your details to our assistance service earlier; we review them after payment and submit within the permitted window.

Prepare your accommodation address

Use the address where you will stay in India.

For a hotel, use the address from your booking or the hotel’s own website. When staying with friends or relatives, ask them to confirm the full address.

Check the building or hotel name, street, town or city and postal code where available. Make sure the state and district match the accommodation’s location.

If you are unsure about the district, ask your accommodation provider or contact us before submitting uncertain information.

Check your recent travel history and contact details

Review your itinerary when answering the question about countries visited in the last six days. Information from a previous trip may no longer be accurate.

Enter your telephone number using the country code and number format requested by the form.

Double-check your email address. We use it to contact you if clarification is needed and to send your confirmation after submission.

Who needs to complete the e-Arrival Card?

Current government guidance includes foreign nationals entering India, including OCI and e-OCI cardholders.

For families using our assistance service, complete a separate application for each traveller using that person’s own details. A parent or guardian can provide a child’s information.
